Usually not a word used for the climate (Atlanta is usually cool for the Southeastern USA and Roswell even more so). The AJC used the term scorching for the weather forecast and it fits well. My light, ceiling fan on low, computer and air conditioner on 78 flicker on and off so I took a moment to remember where candle and fire source for it were. I’m sure it is weather related… everyone’s AC running full blast.
Have been picking up my youngest grandson by car at 4 PM from a local high school like many other students’ families. There is a large sign as you enter the pick-up area: No Idling! Young, growing lungs at work here. I glanced at the temperature as I waited: 103 degrees F. Sat in the car as long as I could but as the perspiration formed and rolled, I gave in. Got out of the car and went over to the shade of the large porch cover of the school building. Still like summertime in Georgia but tolerable for a native. One by one the car engines cranked up and windows closed on the now 20 cars in the line. It was 20 minutes of idling before the first student appeared to be picked up. Hope no waiting family was too upset if their darling didn’t perform as expected inside the school. Perhaps it’s genetic.
Have finished second coat of polyurethane on the steps and now I’m rested enough to roll the new color on my living room wall (?s). I can only do half the steps as otherwise would have no way to get to my bed when I finish.
