Book sales on the rise again but who’s counting.
Escape to the beach is in sight if I can get my left turn signal and driver’s side automatic window fixed. Have already emptied the compartments of their accrued trash (old receipts, loose change, Kleenex galore, old cell phones that no longer work, winter gloves, wrong sized sunglasses and assorted tubes of lipstick in varying degrees of meltdown from sitting in a hot car). Only need to vacuum it and have it washed before loading it with three teen agers to begin the mess cycle all over again. Better gas up before Chavez of Venezuela cuts the oil supply as promised.
Bad week for international news. Can’t tell if we're going to war first with North Korea, Mexico, Iran or BP. Hope none but they all do love rattling sabers at us. Our primaries for off-year elections finished last week except for a couple of run-offs to come. I didn’t take part since in my conscience it would jeopardize my independent status although GA law allows it. Without conscience, I might be confused with candidate or office-holder. (I’m feeling very broad brushy today.)
Too hot to go outside much but my neighbors have kept me well fed. One brought me yellow squash and English cucumbers a client had brought her. Another who enjoys cooking brought me several days of the best southern potato salad I’ve tasted in a while and then an equal amount of delicious homemade vegetable soup. She’s the epitome of American woman (which some ignorant rock star slandered with his lyrics of the same title), southern style. Her patio is 2.5 X 18 feet and she grows enough tomatoes and beans on it to feed herself and her neighbors while working a full time job.
As you cannot tell from my negative tone, life is good but that trip to the beach is needed.
