Cut over 10,000 words from the Completed trilogy before preparing for a reading for Audio disc. Lost nothing important but merely tightened the writing. At my age, it was more important to complete it than to tighten the writing.
A delightful week of spring weather allowed me to get my tulip bulbs in a week ago and my ponytail palms, snapdragon and hen and biddies plants from the inside to the patio since. Patio thermometer was eighty today. As the checkout line at the Supermarket agreed, we’ll probably get a March cold spell yet though. Meanwhile I check for the tulips each morning but nothing… probably something to do with a watched pot.
Have been having a “fun” week of Russian roulette with my blood pressure medicine. Ordered it weeks ago and although they promptly claimed to ship it and efficiently charged me for it, no medicine has arrived. My Health/ Prescription insurance has a deal with a Mail-order pharmacy so after hounding them and the USPS went local pharmacy counter to pharmacy counter literally begging from previous providers. After two claimed they couldn’t help went to Wal-Mart’s and they “gave” me one since they couldn’t charge me for it with no prescription (ran out on a Sunday). Monday one of the former two denials gave me the equivalent of six after going online and transferring my original prescription. That begging carried me a week and when still no delivery from the mail-order people, called the doctor’s office and asked them to call me in a Rx to another local pharmacy which they promptly did. Meanwhile again called the mail-order people and they tried giving me the run-around again. Finally got a supervisor and told them to either get me the medicine STAT or refund my money. Said they’d ship again tomorrow. This morning opened the new local Rx picked up yesterday. It wasn’t my usual shaped pill so called the providing pharmacist. Seems the doc’s office sent in a different but similar RX!!!! Do they know it? It’s Sunday again so went ahead and took the medicine which is minus one ingredient and will deal with the doc’s office tomorrow. Meanwhile life is like an episode of Doc Martin.

INSPIRED by DOC MARTIN
A busy and thus active week brings to mind a diversity of topics:
Druidry: Who knew there was such a word? I did not know it and I lived for decades in a part of Atlanta where Druid Hills Road was a main drag; Druid Hills (as in Driving Miss Daisy) was the centerpiece of the county and I probably qualify as a crone though sex prevents my being a Druid (Why is that such a big deal in every religion?) Anyway how, it is now an officially recognized religion in the UK. After research, it seems to be nearest to the spiritual beliefs of Native Americans with one exception. Druidry lacks the belief in the Great Spirit, or in other words, a supreme being. Apparently no prob in the UK.
Have been planning and plotting a circumnavigation of the globe via the internet. After being quite productive in that pursuit I see Americans in Europe are cautioned to be on guard. If so, that doesn’t bode well for us in Africa, Asia and the sub-continents either. Now staying put seems a better idea.
The final boondoggle was a research (and they use the term loosely) article on Yahoo via Barbara Strauch of Women’s Day. How do Boomer do it? After being the most ageist generation ever (“don’t trust anyone over 40”) they have INSTANTLY come up with “research” that shows the peak years of intelligence are 48-60 at just the moment when they reach that age span. Amazing! And we wonder why the world is in such a mess since they took over?
Guess I’ve ticked off most of the known demographics so PBS’s Doc Martin (my hero) would be proud of this blog.

ONCE-IN-AWHILE ART, TRAVEL & BOOKS
There’s a chance my raison d’etre doesn’t need me anymore. We’ll see. He has his driver’s license, his own car (albeit a stick shift and hand-me-down from his Dad and then it carried his older brother through college graduation) and school starts Monday. His older brother assures me he can really drive himself. I taught my own sons thirty-five years ago that you can’t really drive unless you can drive a stick shift. Anything else is merely steering. Seems my son listened to that one relatively unimportant fact that I told him and passed it on to his. I volunteered to ride with grandson to the mall but his older brother, again, said he doubted there were enough valiums currently on the market to do that.
So am considering a Magellan fete but in an unMagellan manner. Ideally would fly from Atlanta to South America (Brazil or Argentina), Cairo, Rome, London and St Petersburg. Then take the apparently once-in-awhile train from there to Beijing and back to the USA on a 14-day freighter. Only trouble with that plan is I am a non-flyer. We’ll see. I haven’t seen the Dakotas and Wyoming yet.
Lots of rain has brought a flurry of indoorness. Took down the 40+ year old portrait of my sons and did a refinish. Retouched and reframed my grand dog’s picture. Had to control myself to stick with it until finished on the reframing. In my spare time am researching Jimmy II, the Jesuit’s and some bimbo called Clarendon’ s slanderous assault on Lucy, which brings us to books.
Sales sinking but had an ego-boosting note from an old Savannah friend. He’s coming to Atlanta and he and his sister invited me to lunch at the Crowne Plaza. Nice. The ego boost came from his kind words about Savannah Spell to Yorktown in which I learned a new word, denouement.
Have a new TV favorite, Doc Martin. He's a male version of me, only nicer, on Public Broadcasting.
